Youth Power Summer Camp 2009

June 1- 3, 2009
Pasir Ris Holiday Camp, Singapore

The Youth Power Summer Camp 2009 was a residential holiday camp for Singapore youth organised by the alumni from the U.S. State Department's Voluntary Visitor (VolVis) exchange programme and supported by the American Embassy in Singapore. Spearheaded by the youth organization Clubilya, the youth camp saw 40 teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16 from all over Singapore participate in a series of outdoor teambuilding and leadership activities aimed at developing personal skills and character.

Held from June 1-3 at Pasir Ris Holiday Camp, the camp’s tagline "Every Youth Matters" expressed the organizers’ belief that when young people are well-equipped and empowered, they will choose to contribute positively to their environment and communities.  In keeping with the Positive Youth Development philosophy which the alumni studied in the United States on their VolVis trips, the Youth Power Summer Camp 2009 provided a positive outlet for the youth's growth through healthy and meaningful activities.
