Singapore hosts American Foreign Policy Expert

On June 25th and 26th, the U.S. Embassy Singapore’s Office of Public Affairs arranged a wide-ranging series of talks on American foreign policy to Singaporean audiences by Senior Fellow for U.S. Foreign Policy at the Council of Foreign Relations, Walter Russell Mead.  Digital video conferences arranged with the help of U.S. embassies in Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) and Kuala Lumpur expanded the reach of Mead's program. With BSB, Mead conducted a discussion with the director of the new Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies, and with KL, he spoke with Malaysian journalists. In Singapore, Mead spoke with academics, civil servants, journalists, and students. Highlights included a talk at the Civil Service College, co-hosted by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Diplomatic Academy; a roundtable with Singapore Press Holdings journalists; and a lecture and discussion at Hwa Chong Institution.
