Remarks by Ambassador Patricia Herbold

Good evening ladies and gentlemen.  A warm welcome to all of you!  It is great to see such a large crowd of AmCham members at what has become one of the most successful networking events of the year.  I hope you are enjoying the networking and the great food.

First, I would like to thank Dom LaVigne and the AmCham team for organizing this event.  As always, you have done a magnificent job.  I think you will all agree that the Brewerkz’s hamburgers and beer are out of this world.  Thank you to Devin Kimble and the Brewerkz team for catering this event.  Also, I would like to recognize Raj Kumar and General Mills for providing the Haagen-Dazs ice cream.  What a great way to finish off a fabulous meal!  Last but not least, thank you to the Marines for hosting us this evening.

This evening is about getting to know each other and meeting the U.S. Embassy team.  I want the Embassy to be as supportive of U.S. business as we possibly can.  Most section and agency heads are here this evening representing the Departments of State, Commerce, Defense, Homeland Security, Treasury and Transportation – and I’ll ask them all to raise their hands now so you can see who they are.  I hope you will take the opportunity to meet with them during the course of this evening.

We certainly welcome your suggestions on what we can do as an Embassy to represent you and to support your business in Singapore and the region.  Please feel free to let us know what you need, and we will do our best to help.
