Reception for Congressional Delegation Gillmor
Remarks by Ambassador Patricia L. Herbold
January 19, 2006
We are absolutely delighted to welcome Representative Gillmor and the rest of the delegation to Singapore. We are proud of our Embassy and proud of the work we do with Singapore, a key partner in Southeast Asia.
As the delegation saw this afternoon in their visit to the Changi Naval Base and the USS Tarawa, Singapore is an important security partner for the United States. Our bilateral relations have grown increasingly close over the last several years - from security to counterterrorism to trade and many other areas.
These close ties are built on shared interests and the many personal contacts we have developed. To that end, I would also like to thank our Singaporean friends who have joined us this evening and the many members of our U.S. business community here. If there is anything that I or the members of the Embassy staff can do for you, please let us know. Please enjoy the rest of the evening.
