2007 US-Singapore Relations

American Embassy Officer Explains the American Political System to Singaporeans

July 6, 2007

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy organized a talk by an embassy officer on American political consciousness and civil society at the Woodlands Regional Library.  The library is run by the National Library Board, the embassy's “American Connections” partner. The embassy speaker explained how the Bill of Rights is connected to today’s complicated American political process and party politics.  With a contemporary focus, she detailed the various ways American citizens participate in the political process in the United States, and how that process has changed over time.  She also discussed the upcoming American presidential election and the dynamic nature of American politics and campaigns in today's high-tech world.
