SINGAPORE: FULBRIGHTERS PREPARE FOR UNITED STATES
July 12, 2007
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) hosted a pre-departure lunch and briefing for Singaporean Fulbright grantees preparing to depart for the United States. The lunch capped more than a year of close interaction between PAS and the FY-07 Fulbrighters. The event was attended by the Public Affairs Counselor, two Singaporean Fulbright alumni, a current U.S. university student, the Fulbright program coordinator, and the 2007 Fulbrighters. A Fulbright alumnus brought an informative list of tips for the outgoing students, and PAS provided information packets with Fulbright-specific information and points of contact. Among the more lively topics of discussion were social and cultural differences, such as tipping, American teaching styles and study habits, travel opportunities, and food.
