Social Security Administration

The SSA deals with claims for retirement, disability and survivor benefits, Social Security number applications as well as all post-entitlement issues such as changes of address, non-receipt of checks, and termination of benefits due to death.

American Citizen Services can provide basic information and forms regarding Social Security checks and acts as a disbursing agency for Social Security checks.

Veterans Affairs

The Department of Veterans Affairs handles survivor claims, educational benefits, as well as compensation and pension examinations. Claims for benefits must be submitted directly to the VA.

Selective Service Registration

All American males, both U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents, must register with the Selective Service upon reaching the age of eighteen. In order to register, you should come to American Citizen Services within 30 days of your 18th birthday. Bring your U.S. passport or Legal Permanent Resident Alien Card (green card) and fill out the registration form.  Additional information is available.
