Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Get An Expedited Appointment?

Emergency Interviews

There is currently no wait for a visa appointment. Have you tried scheduling an interview?   If not, please first try scheduling an interview.  Please do not request an emergency interview if we already have available interview time slots for the next business day.

The U.S. Embassy in Singapore will accommodate requests for emergency visa interview appointments for humanitarian reasons or, on a space available basis, for truly urgent business travel.  Failure to plan adequately ahead for business travel does not constitute an emergency. Conferences and seminars are not normally considered emergencies.

If you have an emergency and have attempted to schedule an appointment but have found there were no more slots available, please use the following link to contact us to request an emergency appointment.  Please type "Emergency Appointment Request" in the e-mail's subject line.  Please include the following:

  • Name and Contact Information; and
  • A description of the emergency; and
  • Documentation or other information that might be relevant to the situation (please do not submit visa applications).

We will reply within one business day.  Please keep in mind that an expedited interview appointment does not improve an applicant's chances of obtaining a U.S. visa or result in waivers of mandatory processing requirements. An expedited case simply results in an earlier appointment date for the visa interview. A humanitarian emergency is not grounds for the issuance of a U.S. visa; applicants applying for a non-immigrant visa must still prove they meet the requirements of the visa class in question.
