Daniel Pearl World Music Days 2008
December 1, 2008
On December 1, 2008, Ambassador Herbold presented certificates of appreciation to the participants and organizers of this event to commend on their dedication to promoting international friendship and understanding through music.
On October 30, 2008, the Public Affairs Section in Singapore and Clubilya, a non-profit youth development organization, organized the first "Daniel Pearl World Music Days" held in Singapore. This event was hosted by the Jurong Regional Library, one of our American Corner sites. The concert spanned a wide range of musical genres from ethnic music to beatbox, trash percussion, hip-hop dance and pop. The event featured performances by beatboxer Charles Wong aka “Stitch” and Nathan Hartono, winner of Teenage Icon 2005, as well as a debut performance by the Clubilya Youths. Wong's performance included his own rendition of "Daniel" by Elton John, which he played as a tribute to Daniel Pearl.
