September 23, 2001
On behalf of the entire American community I want to thank all of you in Singapore who have offered us your sympathy, condolence and support. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 will live with us always but so will your expressions of friendship. You have reached out to us and we are grateful.
To my fellow Americans I want to say that I know some of you have lost friends and family members in these attacks. I can assure you that the Embassy and I will do everything we can to help you through these dark times. But I also want to say that I admire your courage and resolve. At times like these it is difficult to carry on. But we do. You are what is best about America and I am proud to be representing you.
