U.S. Ambassador Welcomes Decision on Global Crossing

Ambassador Frank Lavin today welcomed the approval of ST Telemedia's acquisition of Global Crossing. Ambassador Lavin stated that the decision "is good news for the U.S., is good news for the companies involved, and is a strong vote of confidence in Singapore." The Ambassador added: "the U.S., like Singapore, has a strong tradition of welcoming foreign investment, and, as today's announcement shows, we can maintain that openness while ensuring that vital US national security interests are protected."
