Over 1000 Singaporeans had an opportunity August 14 to hear from and speak with a genuine American hero, NASA astronaut and three time Space Shuttle crew member, Leroy Chiao. Speaking to students at one of Singapore's finest secondary schools - Changkat Changi - and with his professional counterparts at the Institute of Aerospace Engineers, Dr. Chiao described his job at NASA and discussed America's space program. Highlighting for his audiences the scientific and technological accomplishments that have resulted from work on the International Space Station, he also showed video clips from a stunning film made during his last shuttle mission and talked about his many walks in space. The NASA astronaut shared his views concerning the debate surrounding Mankind's reach for the stars, showing himself to be an articulate and enthusiastic advocate for space exploration. All in all, a five star performance by one of the few men and women who have traveled on the celestial highway.
