American Collection Presented to Singaporean Secondary School

February 19, 2004

The American Embassy presented a library collection of over 125 fiction and non-fiction titles, CD-ROM reference materials, and PBS video programs about the United States and American society to the Changkat Changi Secondary School on February 19. One of Singapore’s choice academic institutions, the multimedia collection was described by the school’s Principal, Mr. Goh Aik Choon, as a solid contribution to his library’s U.S. studies section, one that would allow Changkat Changi students to learn more about American history, culture, and society. The Embassy's Public Affairs Officer, David Andresen encouraged Changkat Changi's students to take advantage of the American experience the donated collection offered them, noting they now had direct access to the same kind of books, CD-ROMs, and videos that their American counterparts read, viewed, and studied in high school.
